Lusk Farm in Pittsford New York

Organic Linseed oil paint will never cause these problems. The problems in the below photos are caused by petrochemical acrylic paint and varnish.

Lusk Barn

This barn is the former Lusk Farm in Pittsford New York. The structure was completely restored in the early 2000. Today the wood siding shows clear signs of rot. This is the direct result of using acrylic paint products causing irreversible damage. Solution: scrub the surface with the organic linseed oil soap and let it dry.

Door

This basement barn entry door varnish has turned to powder after just a handful of years. A few more years without doing anything will rot the bottom of this door completely. Organic linseed oil varnish will not fail like this.

Correct restoration: Apply a thin coat of the organic raw linseed oil. Allow it to soak into the varnish residue a day of two in 70 degree weather. Heat with the Silent Paint Remover and scrape the stuff off. You can also heat and buff with steel wool if the layer of failed varnish is very thin. Apply a coat of the organic boiled linseed oil. Make sure to get the bottom edge of the door that will be exposed to water. If you want a glossy surface, apply 2-3 coats of the organic linseed oil varnish. Maintenance is simply done by cleaning the surface with the organic linseed oil soap. Let it dry completely and then apply a coat of the organic linseed oil every 5 years or when the surface looks dry. You can also use just the organic boiled linseed oil if a flat surface is desired.
